Gangwon State, a city of mountains and sea. This nature-rich region is shaped by the majestic Taebaek Mountain Range, and bordered by the beautiful East Sea.
About Gangwon State
Gangwon State(Previously Gangwon-do Province) is situated in the northeastern region of South Korea and is bordered by the East Sea. Due to the Taebaek Mountain Range, the “backbone of the Korean Peninsula” extending from North Korea to Busan, about 80% of the region is mountainous terrain.
It is blessed with mountains, forests, seas, rivers, and lakes that create stunning scenery all year-round. The Daegwallyeong area, which hosted the 2018 PeyongChang Winter Olympics, is especially popular in winter for the world-class ski resorts, and in summer, coastal cities like Gangneung, Yangyang, and Sokcho attract great crowds of vacations.
